The Kansas Miniature Horse Club (KMHC) is made up of men, women, and young people who all have a mutual love of Miniature Horses. Our club was formed in the fall of 1989 as the first Kansas club for miniature horse enthusiasts. Many of the founding members are still actively involved with miniature horses and with the club.

Our membership is as diverse as it is large. One of our founding members, Mr. Orville Suddarth, was fondly known throughout the National level show circuit as "Mr. Amateur." He had outstanding success in winning National level titles as an amateur when competing against professionals. Although we are not a show club, we can boast of quite a few members who showed at the National level and consistently won year after year. These people give freely of their expertise to KMHC sponsored clinics and fun shows as instructors and judges. They are especially gracious in helping the newcomers and the children.

Other members get great pleasure from participating with their horses on a local level in parades, 4-H, county fairs and tours of nursing homes, schools, and libraries. Some of our members had never owned a horse while others grew up on horseback. Our farms range in size from one acre to large working ranches, and our herds number anywhere from one horse to over 150 head.

We are truly a club that welcomes all new members regardless of their interests or level of experience!
